Estate Planning Horror Stories

Do you have a spine-chilling tale of estate planning gone wrong, a family dispute over an inheritance, or a poorly planned estate that led to disastrous consequences? We want to hear from you!

We are seeking submissions for our upcoming book, Estate Planning Horror Stories, where we explore the terrifying (and often real) consequences of poor estate planning, conflict of interest, lack of preparation, inflexibility, or legal missteps. Whether you’re a lawyer, a financial planner, or simply someone who’s lived through a family’s inheritance nightmare, this is your chance to share your story.

What we are looking for

We Want...

  • Real-life horror stories or cautionary tales involving estate planning gone awry.
  • Tales of wills, trusts, or estates that resulted in family feuds, legal battles, or financial devastation.
  • Stories of mistaken heirs, missing documents, confusing language, or the consequences of procrastination.
  • Anything that showcases the importance of careful estate planning and highlights the very real risks of neglecting it.

This book will serve as a valuable resource for anyone looking to avoid the pitfalls of poor estate planning. Your story could help others prevent the kinds of nightmare scenarios that you’ve experienced. Plus, selected contributors will have the opportunity to see their work published in an anthology with a wide readership.

Don't miss your chance to be part of this exciting new project! We look forward to reading your terrifying tales of estate planning gone wrong.

Important Note: While this is a lighthearted exploration of "horror stories," we ask that all submissions be respectful and adhere to ethical storytelling. The purpose of this anthology is to educate and entertain, not to sensationalize real-life tragedies.

Start drafting your story today—we can’t wait to hear what you have to share!
